PORTFOLIOS: DEAD CENTER
A single word or phrase repeated often enough begins to lose its meaning. Objects too can lose their meaning the longer we look at them, becoming as abstract as pieces of contemporary sculpture. Dead Center places its subjects in the middle of the frame offering the viewer a single point of focus. Reconsidered in this limited context, the intended function of the objects is gradually replaced by an appreciation of the very features that drew the eye in the first place: form, color, and light. Singled out we notice they have assumed a mysterious life of their own.
